About Kelly

Creator of the Zebra Baby emotional learning series helping children feel safe, confident, understood, and proud of who they are.

Inspired by motherhood, emotional learning, and the gentle everyday moments that help children grow.

Kelly Anderson is the creator of the Zebra Baby emotional learning series. She wrote Zebra Baby's Beautiful Stripes for her son, Kairo, inspired by the belief that what makes us different is what makes us special.

Through gentle storytelling and emotionally warm moments between Zebra Baby and her mom, Kelly creates stories designed to help children build confidence, kindness, emotional resilience, self expression, and emotional safety.

Her goal is to create books that feel calming, supportive, relatable, and emotionally meaningful for both children and the adults reading with them.

Kelly lives in Portland, Oregon with her son and continues to write new Zebra Baby stories focused on helping children navigate emotions, friendships, confidence, boundaries, and everyday childhood experiences.

Why Zebra Baby

Stories for the feelings children can't always name.

Zebra Baby was created from a desire to help children feel emotionally seen, safe, understood, and supported.

Many children experience big emotions, self doubt, nervousness, frustration, or feelings of being left out, but do not always have the words to explain what they are feeling.

The Zebra Baby series gently introduces emotional learning concepts in ways children can understand through comforting storytelling, relatable moments, emotional reassurance, and supportive parent and child interactions.

Behind the stories

A modern emotional learning author brand, rooted in real motherhood.

Kelly writes from the everyday moments that shape childhood: bedtime conversations, first day nerves, waiting for a turn, and finding the courage to speak up. Zebra Baby is the companion she wished she had on the shelf: calming, premium, and emotionally intelligent while still feeling warm, gentle, and child centered.

“Every child deserves to feel like the most loved character in their own story.”
